we go past the brief. before we draw a screen or write a migration, we want to understand the business model, the operator, the constraint that's actually slowing them down. shallow work is faster to ship and more expensive to own.
read the room, then the spec
restraint
most products are heavier than they need to be. we remove before we add, and we ship the smallest thing that earns trust. taste, for us, is mostly knowing what to leave out.
